Discovering Cahors
A stroll through the pretty town of Cahors
In the heart of the Lot valley, Cahors is a city where you can enjoy a pleasant stroll. Discover its timeless beauty as you stroll through the historic center, from the Secret Gardens to the UESCO-listed Saint-Etienne Cathedral and the Valentré Bridge.
On Saturday mornings, the Place de la Cathédrale comes alive with the market, one of the finest in the South-West! After a meal in the Halles or a picnic on the banks of the Lot, hop aboard a tour boat for a short cruise with commentary and lock passage!
Mountain biking and hiking from Cahors
During your stay at camping La Plage, outdoor activities are king. Perhaps you’d like to take a lovely walk to the Mont Saint-Cyr viewpoint to admire the panoramic view over the town and the surrounding countryside. There are two variants: 3.7 km and 5.7 km. From the banks of the River Lot, there’s a great mountain bike trail that allows you to reach the same viewpoint in a more sporting way. It’s a great way to combine exploring the town with outdoor sports!
Just a few steps from the lookout, other activities await you, including archery, an orienteering course, an escape game and scootering.
Discover the Valentré bridge
A masterpiece of medieval architecture, Pont Valentré is the landmark of Cahors, with its three fortified towers. Built over more than fifty years, it is the stuff of legend. Its architect is said to have made a pact with the devil to complete its construction! You’ll hear all about it if you choose to take a guided tour of the bridge. You can also admire the bridge from the water on a cruise along the River Lot. The choice is yours, whether you opt for a one-hour cruise or a full day with a meal on the boat!
